
OLIVE GROWING, OLIVE OIL EXTRACTION AND MARKETING OF OLIVE OILS
The Universities of Jaen, Extremadura, Evora (Portugal) and UNIA have launched the Inter-University Professional Degree in “Olive Growing, Olive Oil Extraction and Marketing of Olive Oils”, which hold the first edition in Jaen from the 2nd of April to the 13th of July.
The olive oil sector is strategic in Andalusia, Extremadura as well as Alentejo (Portugal), regions in which the olive orchard has a large area and in which production of olive oils owns a significant power in GDP. However, diagnosis carried out over the sector point out that it needs a greater professionalization. In this context, this course intends to provide quality training allowing to create a large number of expert people in olive growing, olive oil extraction and marketing of olive oils through learning of knowledge concerning:
- Vegetal material
- Control of fruition and production
- Design of crops
- Systems for soil management
- Fertilization and irrigation
- Pests and diseases
- Olive oil production
- Influencing factors on olive oils quality
- Organoleptic assessment
- Byproducts and waste
- Analysis of value chains of olive oils
- Olive oils market
- Olive oil commercialization: strategic and operational marketing
- International commerce

Entry requirements
Target group:
– Engineers, Graduate, Architects, Technical Engineers, and those with a University Degree.
– Producers, technicians and industrialists belonging to the sector and those people interested showing to meet the requirements in order to aim for the Degree. Otherwise, only an attendance certificate will be issued.
